Your dog cushion can become a breeding ground for bacteria and odors if you don't clean it often enough. Moreover, it will also last longer if you maintain it properly. But how often should I actually wash my dog pillow? Well, scroll on and find out more. 🐶
How often to wash? 🧼
More often than you probably think. Your dog cushion is best vacuumed every week and washed every 2 weeks. Although it also depends a bit on whether your dog goes outside a lot. Especially in the fall and winter months when your rascal may have muddy feet, your dog cushion is a breeding ground for bacteria.
How? 💧
Loose hairs are best removed every week with a vacuum cleaner. Then remove the cover through the zipper (if possible) and machine wash it at 30 degrees. Do not use fabric softener and use a mild detergent. If your dog basket does not have a zipper, you can re-wash it by hand in lukewarm water. Then let dry on/on a rack.
Washing instructions? 🤔
Always look at the washing instructions. It would be a shame if you damage your cushion after just 1 wash. Most dog beds may be washed in lukewarm water. Often a machine wash at 30 degrees is also possible. The dryer is not recommended. Let your cushion/cover dry on a rack out of the sun. That way you also don't risk discoloration.
